Police have identified the 28-year-old woman who died after a crash on Route 8 in Thomaston on Saturday morning.
According to police, Cassandra Bigos, of Bethany, was driving on Route 8 southbound near exit 40 when she left the road and went through the metal wire rope guardrail. She continued down an embankment before hitting a tree. Her vehicle then caught on fire.
Firefighters removed Bigos from the vehicle and she was transported to Waterbury Hospital, where she later died.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
