Driver Fled on Foot After Crashing Into Ambulance in Hartford: Police

Police are searching for the driver of a vehicle that crashed into an ambulance in Hartford and fled on Friday night.

Police responded to the intersection of Woodland Street at Homestead Avenue around 9:30 p.m. after getting a report of an evading motor vehicle accident involving an American Medical Response (AMR) ambulance.

When officers arrived, they learned a silver, two-door Acura was speeding while traveling westbound on Homestead Avenue. Police said the Acura failed to stop at a red light, entered the intersection and hit an ambulance as it traveled northbound on Woodland Street. The impact from the Acura pushed the ambulance into the southbound lane of Woodland Street, where it hit a Nissan Maxima.

The occupants of the Acura fled the scene on foot and headed northbound on Woodland Street, investigators said.

Emergency crews responded to an accident involving an overturned ambulance in Hartford Friday night.

The driver and the passenger of the ambulance, as well as the driver of the Nissan Maxima were transported to St. Francis Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Officials said there were no patients in the ambulance at the time of the crash.
