A man from Bridgeport has died after a crash on Route 8 south in Shelton on Friday night.
Police said a vehicle was traveling on Route 8 south near exit 12 around 6:15 p.m. when the driver swerved off of the road, down an embankment and hit a tree.
The driver of the vehicle was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, authorities added.
A passenger in the vehicle, later identified as 20-year-old Jarvis Jones, of Bridgeport, was ejected from the vehicle and was transported to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, officers said.
A second passenger in the vehicle was transported to the hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries, according to police.
Part of the highway was closed for hours while police investigated the crash, but has since reopened.
