Emergency crews battled several brush fires in Bridgewater. Chaplin, Middlebury and Middlefield on Thursday.
Officials from the state Department of Energy and Environmenta; Protection battled a six-acre brush fire in Bridgewater on a hillside in the area of Main Street and Sarah Sanford Road. As of 3:30 p.m. Thursday it was contained and controlled.
A brush fire affected three acres on Beseck Mountain in Middlefield and officials said a campfire caused the fire, which was reported at 10:35 a.m. and out as of Thursday afternoon.
A campfire was also to blame for a brush fire at Charlie Brown Campground off Route 198 in Chaplin.
