A 24-year-old New Haven man died five days after being struck by a cruiser in St. Petersburg last weekend.
Terry Barnes was crossing the street in St. Petersburg just before 11 p.m. Saturday when a cruiser responding to a call struck him, authorities said. He died at a hospital Thursday morning.
Officer Steven Pugh was on his way to a call at the time, but did not have his lights and siren on. He said he swerved but was unable to avoid Barnes.
No charges have been filed. Police are still investigating.
