Campus Warn After Sex Assault

Southern Connecticut State University is alerting students about an alleged sexual assault that happened on campus Sunday in the Adanti Student Center, university police said. The victim was underage and was not a student.


Woman Accused of Spending Stolen Money

A Woodstock woman has been charged with helping two alleged robbers spend cash they stole from two brothers, according to state police. Mackenzie Halpin, 19, allegedly went on a shopping spree after she hooked up with the two suspected robbers accused of taking $3,000 at gunpoint. Halpin turned herself in on Tuesday and faces charges of sixth-degree larceny and receiving stolen property. Halpin has been released on bond pending her appearance April 21 in Danielson Superior Court.


Check Cashing Scheme Ends in Crash

A man accused of trying to pass a phony check is blamed for a serious crash that sent six people to the hospital, police said. The man is accused of trying to cash a fake check at the Sovereign Bank in New Haven.  When he realized, the teller alerted police. The man accused of passing the check took off in a car and crashed into another car at College and Crown streets and police made the arrest.
