The chairman of the Derby Democratic Town Committee is suing a former mayoral candidate over comments in an Internet blog. Samuel Rizzitelli is accusing the "Derby Politics" blog, written by Melvin Thompson, of defaming him and he has filed suit in Milford Superior Court. Rizzitelli's lawyer calls statements made about Rizzitelli outrageous and says they have clearly crossed the line many times. The blog has made derogatory comments against various individuals, referring to some as mobsters or members of the Ku Klux Klan.
Fatal Crash Investigated
One person is dead and two others were taken to the hospital after a crash in Stratford. The three-car crash happened on Broadbridge Avenue Thursday night, according to police.

A New Jersey man has been arrested in Montville, accused of trying to link up with teenage girl on the Internet. Mervin Laparre III, 26, of Cliffwood, N.J., was arrested Thursday after he arrived in Montville for what he thought would be a meeting with a 15-year-old girl, police said.
