Missing Man's Body Found in Harbor

Two days after he was reported missing, police found the body of a Norwalk man in Norwalk Harbor.  Michael Giblin, 38, was found in about 12-feet of water on Thursday.  Police, firefighters, and the Coast Guard had been searching for Giblin since midnight Tuesday, when his wife reported him missing. They found him using an underwater camera. The Chief Medical Examiner in Farmington will perform an autopsy to determine cause of death.

A Bristol man was been arrested after his temper got the best of him Thursday in New Britain, police said. Jose Encarnacion, 34, is accused of waving a machete and a gun at another driver. Police tracked him down at a pay phone after he apparently switched vehicles with his wife. Encarnacion faces several charges, including breach of peace.

Postal Worker Caught With his Hand in the Mailbag

A letter carrier has pleaded guilty to stealing mail from the post office in Newtown. Jorge Colon, 44, of Waterbury, was caught by a surveillance camera opening several pieces of Mail between Oct. 15 and Nov. 17 of last year. Prosecutors said he admitted to stealing a gift card from Target. Under the plea agreement, Colon will spend up to a year in prison and a large fine. He'll be sentenced on June 15.

Case Dropped Against New Haven Detective

A judge has dismissed the criminal case against a former New Haven detective accused of using a police database for personal use. Michael Hunter, who is black, claimed his arrest last fall was racially motivated. His lawyer obtained documents showing that five other police employees, all white, had done the same thing and weren't arrested. Hunter's union worked out an arrangement to allow him to retire.
