Man Arrested in Standoff

A Clinton man has been arrested after a standoff at his home involving guns, according to police.  A girl called 911 Sunday evening to say her father had a gun and was arguing with her mother in an upstairs bedroom at a home on Pepperbush Drive, according to police.  The dispatcher told the girl to get her siblings out of the house and police responded and surrounded the home.  Shortly after police arrived, the wife was able to escape and Gregory Garbinski remained inside.  State police were also called to the scene.  Police were told Garbinski had several weapons and ammunition and was intoxicated. They tried several times to contact him.  Garbinski finally came out of the house around 9 p.m. Sunday night, according to police.  He is being held on several charges.


Hartford Apartment Shooting

Hartford police are investigating a murder over the weekend. Calwyn Fearon, 31,  is accused of shooting and killing a woman in her Bodwell Street apartment on Saturday. The woman's name has not been released. Fearon was arrested in West Hartford just hours after the shooting and is being held on $1 million bond.


Mother and Sons Accused of Having Drug Factory

A West Hartford mother and her two teenage sons have been charged with operating a drug factory from their house.  Susan Awad, 41, and her 14- and 16-year-old sons were arrested Thursday.  Marijuana and growing materials were found in their Crabapple Road home, according to police.  The three face numerous charges. Susan Awad was released on bond.


Two Injured in Restaurant Fire

Two people are recovering from burns they received from a fire in a popular Litchfield restaurant. Firefighters responded to the West Street Grill at 5:30 p.m., Sunday. The restaurant's owner and chef were injured as they tried to move an oven and accidentally hit a gas line, sparking an explosion, according to the Republican American. The two were taken to Charlotte Hungerford Hospital for treatment.
