DEA Finds Hundreds of Pot Plants in 2 Local Busts

Three hundred and 12 marijuana plants. When cops found them, they said, the plants were scattered throughout 39 Larovera Terrace in Ansonia.

On Friday, police lined it all up there were more than a dozen long rows of illegal weed.

Police arrested Jose Estevez, 45, of Nanuet, New York on Thursday afternoon after serving a search warrant at the home. He was in the basement when Drug Enforcement Administration agents arrived, police said.

Police said they found 261 marijuana plants in the basement, along with items to keep the plants growing.

In the great room above the garage, police found 47 suspected marijuana plants. In the middle bedroom on the second floor, police said. there were four plants believed to be marijuana.

Estevez was charged with drug violations, held on a $250,000 bond and given a court date of Dec. 17.

Police said the bust is connected to Milford, where police and DEA agents found more than 100 marijuana plants in an Andover Drive residence, the Hartford Courant reports.
