The driver of a tractor-trailer who went down an embankment on Interstate 91 North in Wallingford early Friday morning has died, according to state police.
Police identified the driver as 41-year-old Ashley Bennett, of Uniondale, New York, and said he died after being transported to the hospital.
Bennett swerved off the shoulder of I-91 North near the exit 14 onramp at 4:43 a.m., went down an embankment and hit a tree, according to state police.
First responders found him unresponsive at the scene and transported him to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to call Troop I at 203-393-4200.
