Woman Struck, Killed on Train Tracks in Greenwich

A train struck and killed a woman on the track in Cos Cob on Friday morning.

The woman dropped her wallet or purse on the tracks and was trying to pick it up when she was hit by the train, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

The commuter railroad said the incident at the Cos Cob station in Greenwich happened around 9:30 a.m. on Friday and delayed service by about 30 to 40 minutes.

Passengers who were headed from Grand Central Terminal in New York to New Haven were transferred to another train.

The accident remains under investigation.
