A state Department of Transportation crashed down an embankment on Route 8 in Naugatuck Monday and state police said the truck landed just feet from the Naugatuck River.
Troopers responded to Route 8 South, near Exit 27, at 11:39 a.m. Investigators said it appears the truck was traveling in the right lane when it veered across the shoulder and crashed through the guardrail.
The driver was taken to Waterbury Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
