A Connecticut Department of Transportation employee who was struck on the southbound side of the Wilbur Cross Parkway in North Haven on Wednesday is in critical condition, according to DOT officials.
State police identified the DOT employee as Jeffrey Spencer, 52, of East Haven.
He was placing a wheel chock against the left rear tire of a DOT vehicle when a 27-year-old New York man drifted, hit the DOT vehicle and then struck Spencer just after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to police.
Spencer was thrown to the ground and was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital to be treated for serious injuries.
Police are investigating.
