Drivers Asked to Avoid Part of Route 5 in Berlin After Truck Rollover

Five hundred gallons of liquid asphalt spilled when a truck rolled over on Route 5 North in Berlin Tuesday morning.

Officials from the fire department said the truck rolled over around 9:13 a.m.

The driver was out of the truck, uninjured, and the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection was called in.

The liquid asphalt left in the truck was moved to another truck.

Fire officials said the ramp from Route 372 to Route 5 North and the ramp from Route 5 North to Route 372 will remain closed for an extended period. 

No injuries are reported.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area.
