Ducks Sign Farmington's Nick Bonino

Farmington’s Nick Bonino, 21, has a two-year contract with the Anaheim Ducks.

The center is Anaheim-bound after completing his junior season at Boston University, where he scored a team-leading 38 points in 33 trips to the ice.

San Jose selected him in the sixth round -- 173rd overall -- of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, and Anaheim acquired him, along with goaltender Timo Pielmeier in exchange for left wing Travis Moen and defenseman Kent Huskins on Mar. 4.

The soon-to-be Duck is tied for 10th place among Hockey East players in scoring and helped win the NCAA Championship with BU in 2008-09. He’s also the Reebok Hockey East Player of the Month for February.

Before BU, Bonino was captain of the Avon Old Farms team, which happens to be the team for which 2010 U.S. Olympian Jonathan Quick played before venturing on to UMass.
