An East Haven woman who was accused of killing her two children has been found guilty, according to the court clerk’s office.
A three-judge panel in New Haven heard the case against 39-year-old LeRoya Moore, who was charged with murder in the deaths of her 6-year-old daughter, Aleisha, and her 7-year-old son, Daaron, in East Haven in 2015. Her lawyers were pursuing an insanity defense.
Autopsies showed the children died from antihistamine intoxication, but a defense psychiatrist said Moore told him she drowned them while trying to "baptize" them after God told her she was supposed to kill them and herself.
The New Haven Register reported a psychiatrist for the prosecution testified Moore wasn't psychotic during the killings, contradicting the defense's psychiatrist.
Moore is scheduled to be sentenced on June 27.
