East Haven police are searching for the hit-and-run driver who injured a girl as she was crossing the street Monday night.
The girl was on a skateboard and crossing Tyler Street near Taylor Avenue just after 7:30 p.m. Monday when a white Chevy Express van hit her and knocked her unconscious, according to police.
Several people who saw what happened stopped to help the girl and called 911. Police said the girl’s injuries are not life-threatening.
Witnesses told police that the driver who struck the girl stopped briefly, pulled into a driveway, turned around, went east on Tyler Street and left the area.
Police have released surveillance video of the area that they said shows the van pass by on Tyler Street immediately after the incident and witnesses run back to help the girl.
