Christopher DiMeo's life is in the hands of a jury.

Starting today, a jury in Bridgeport Superior Court will debate whether the man who was convicted of killing a husband and wife during a jewelry store robbery in Fairfield should receive the death penalty.

The formerly of Queens, New York resident, was convicted of shooting and killing Timothy and Kimberly Donnelly in their store in 2005.

DiMeo's lawyers have not disputed that their client shot the couple, but argued that DiMeo was high on heroin and did not go to the store intending to kill anyone, the Connecticut Post reports

The defense has presented a list of about 100 witnesses they might call during the penalty phase, including several psychiatrists.
