Father, Son Accused of Multiple Burglaries in Orange

A father-son pair were arrested after police said they were responsible for a number of burglaries in Orange.

Orange Police said there was a rash of burglaries in the area between February and March of this year.

John Connelly, 69, and Michael Connelly, 23, were arrested during a motor vehicle stop on March 3. Police said they found a variety of narcotics that appeared to be ready to sell. The son had six warrants out for his arrest, police said. 

Information from the traffic stop led police to believe that the father and son were connected to seven different burglaries in Orange. A warrant was served for them on April 15. 

Police said the pair would steal small, expensive items like jewelry and watches to flip for cash. 

The older Connelly is accused of five counts of third degree burglary, four counts of third degree criminal mischief, fifth degree larceny, two counts of third degree larceny, two counts of second degree criminal mischief, first degree larceny, 16 counts of conspiracy to commit the aforementioned crimes, possession of narcotic substances, possession of narcotics with intent to sell within 1500 feet of a school or day care, possession of narcotics within 1500 feet of a school or day care and interfering with an officer's investigation. 

The son is accused of seven counts of third degree burglary, three counts of third degree criminal mischief, fifth degree larceny, three counts of third degree larceny, three counts of second degree criminal mischief, two counts of first degree larceny, 13 counts of conspiracy to commit the aforementioned crimes, possession of narcotic substances, possession of narcotics with intent to sell within 1500 feet of a school or day care, possession of narcotics within 1500 feet of a school or day care, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of less than 4 ounces of marijuana, interfering with an officer's investigation and impersonation.
