The federal government has provided almost $1.9 million to Connecticut residents who were affected by flooding.
More than 1,800 households have registered for FEMA assistance for damage caused by the floods that struck between March 12 and May 17 and FEMA had disbursed $1,862,333 as of Sunday.
FEMA officials said that even residents with a small amount of damage might still be eligible for federal assistance.
Of the 1,846 people to register, 1,133 are from New London County, 368 are from Fairfield County, 89 claims came from Middlesex County, 104 claims came from New Haven County and 126 claims came from Windham County, according to Gov. M. Jodi Rell’s office.
FEMA officials state that the calling the state’s 211 Infoline does not register residents. They must call 1-800-621-3362 to register or visiting the www.DisasterAssistance.gov.
Those with a speech or hearing impairment can call (TTY) 800-462-7585. Both lines are open 6:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. Monday through Friday and 6:30 a.m. to midnight Saturday and Sunday until further notice.
Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) are now open in the following locations:
- Groton Senior Center, 102 Newtown Road
- Three Rivers Community College, Room D 26, 574 New London Turnpike,Norwich
- Killingworth Fire Department, 333 Route 81
- Quinebaug Valley Community College, West Wing Room 105 W, 742 Upper Maple Street, Danielson
- North Haven Campus of Gateway Community College Auditorium, 88 Bassett Road
- Norwalk Community College West Campus, Room W-103, 188 Richards Ave.
The centers are open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays until further notice. They are closed Sundays.
