Three prison guards were attacked by a female prison at York Correctional Institution in Niantic Monday.
According to police, Alyssa Fearon, 21, assaulted the three Correctional Officers with a plastic shower rod around 1:30 p.m. Other guards responded and struggled with Fearon while trying to subdue her. The guards used chemical spray on Fearon and were finally able to secure her, police said.
The three guards who were assaulted were taken to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London where they were treated for minor injuries.
Fearon was being held at York on failure to appear charges. She faces new charges of assault on a correctional officer, assault with a weapon and reckless endangerment.
