Fire Damages Deli in West Hartford

The fire started in Reuben’s Deli early Tuesday morning.

A deli, an Irish pub and an optical center were damaged by fire in West Hartford Center early Tuesday morning.

Employees of McLadden’s Irish Publick House, on LaSalle Road, reported the fire around 1:30 a.m. as they were closing the restaurant and bar.

According to the West Hartford Fire Department, smoke was coming into McLadden’s from the Reuben’s Deli, at 35A LaSalle Road.

Firefighters forced their way into Reuben’s, which is under renovation and has been closed for a few weeks, and extinguished the fire. It was declared under control at 2:22 a.m.

The fire damage was confined to Reuben’s Deli, but McLadden’s and Central Optica, located at 33 LaSalle Road, were damaged by smoke and water.

The West Hartford Fire Department fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.

All West Hartford fire units responded and UConn Engine 1 responded for mutual aid.

No Injuries were reported.
