Fire Destroys 2 Stamford Reserve Ambulances

A fire has destroyed two of Stamford Emergency Medical Service's reserve ambulances.

The two ambulances were parked next to each other in the lot at the Stamford EMS Long Ridge Road headquarters when the fire started on Saturday night, according to Stamford EMS officials.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but officials believe it involved a mechanical malfunction in one of the ambulances.

No injuries were reported.

Stamford EMS said the fire has not affected their service to the community and that they still operate around the clock with five ambulances out of the stations around the city.
