Firefighters Rescue Pets from Stamford House Fire

Stamford firefighters rescued several pets from a fire in a multi-family home on Green Street Sunday evening.

Fire officials said crews were called to a porch fire at 8 Green Street around 6:30 p.m. When they arrived they found heavy fire showing from the second-floor porch of the home and fire extending into two apartments.

During a search, firefighters found several pets in the home and safely removed them from danger. All the human occupants made it out of the home unharmed.

It took firefighters about 15 minutes to get the fire under control. Two of the four apartments in the home were damaged by the fire. The American Red Cross responded to provide assistance to two occupants.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
