Firefighters responded to Anchor Beach in Milford to help a boater who needed help getting back to shore.
The motor was not strong enough to overcome the tide, and the boat began drifting out into Long Island Sound.
Crews responded and found the man about 3 miles off shore. The boater was towed back into the beach. He was not injured, according to fire officials.
The incident was reported around 10 a.m.
