What a Scrooge! Wealthy Man Bilks Food Stamps

New Canaan father of five had access to a fortune

Really?  What a present-day scrooge!

A man in the wealthy enclave of New Canaan has been charged with food stamp fraud.

Martin Ho, 51, is accused of bilking the state out of more than $12,000 in food stamps -- while he had access to hundreds of thousands of dollars.

At the time he used the stamps, from mid-2006 to late-2007, authorities say he controlled the bank account of an energy company and had at his disposal hundreds of thousands of dollars in two investment accounts.

The food stamp program is designed to provide discounts on groceries to low-income people and families.
