Foxwoods to Request Extending Alcohol Service to 4 a.m.

Foxwoods is hoping it can let its late-night gamblers enjoy a drink while playing blackjack or slot machines.

The Mashantucket Pequot tribe plans to seek permission to serve alcohol until 4:00 a.m. to compete with MGM Springfield, which is scheduled to open Aug. 24.

Gamblers at MGM Springfield will be able to drink alcohol until 4 a.m. The Massachusetts Gaming Commission approved extending alcohol service to those actively gambling on the casino's gaming floor. All other bars and restaurants on the 14-acre complex would still have to stop serving liquor by the traditional 2 a.m. cutoff

The Mashantuckets and the Mohegan tribes have already joined forces to try to compete with the Massachusetts competition by seeking to open a casino in East Windsor which is closer to the Bay State border.
