FTC Slaps Google on Wrist for Privacy Invasion

NBC 5 News

The Federal Trade Commission is giving Google a symbolic slap on the wrist but no formal punishment after the company invaded people’s privacy.

Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, who is running for U.S. Senate, is leading a coalition of states in their own investigation of Google.

The FTC sent Google a letter scolding the Internet giant for collecting e-mails, passwords and other personal information while creating its Street View mapping service.

Blumenthal said the investigation is ongoing.
