Fundraiser for Officers Injured in North Haven Explosion Raises $50,000

A fundraiser at Stony Creek Brewery in Branford raised more than $50,000 to help the officers who were injured in an explosion in North Haven earlier this month.

The officers were injured in an explosion after police responded to a home on Quinnipiac Avenue on May 2 to investigate a domestic violence situation that turned into a standoff.

Ten members of the South Central Regional SWAT team were injured when there was an explosion during that incident and nine were taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital. All nine officers have been released from the hospital.

Police from across the state and members of the public attended the event.

“They gave everything they had to serve their community, so this is the least we can do to see that they get back on their feet,” Lt. Joseph Murgo, of East Haven Police Department, said.
