A crew resurfacing roads punctured a gas main on Meadow Street in Thomaston on Friday morning.
It happened around 10 a.m. near South Main Street and Elm Street, according to fire officials.
There were some evacuations in the area as a precaution but people have since been allowed back in their homes.
Eversource shut off the gas to several homes near the leak while the gas main was repaired.
No one was injured.
