Hamden Home Burglarized as Residents Slept: Police

Hamden police are urging residents to lock their doors and windows before going to bed after burglars broke into a house overnight while the residents slept, police said.

Police responded to a report of suspicious activity on Paradise Avenue at 3:45 a.m. on Tuesday and a homeowner reported seeing a flashlight through his side window followed by someone running through his backyard.

As investigators searched the area, they noticed a patio chair under an open back window of a neighboring residence, police said.

Police soon determined that the burglars had gone into a house while the residents were sleeping and stole money, police said.

Hamden Police recommend that houses be well illuminated and free of obstacles that obstruct their windows.

Anyone with information should call the Hamden Police Department Detective Division at (203) 230-4040.
