Hamden Police Investigate 3 Instances of Gunfire in 3 Days

Hamden police are stepping up patrols amid investigations into three incidents of gunfire on their streets, one of which sent bullets into a home near where three small children were sleeping.

Police said the first incident happened on Thursday around 6:30 p.m. near the intersection of State Street and Ridge Road. Witnesses said people in two cars were shooting at each other. No injuries were reported.

The second shooting happened on Friday around 10:15 p.m. on Warner Street. Police said officers found bullet holes in several cars parked on Warner and Mott streets. No injuries were reported.

The third involved a report of an exchange of gunfire between two vehicles on Dixwell Avenue between Hamden Park Drive and First Street around 2 a.m. Sunday. In that incident, two bullets struck a nearby home. One bullet went into a family room where three children were asleep, and another bullet entered a wall a few feet above the children. None of the children were hit.
