Handyman Sentenced in Teacher's Kidnapping

Russell Kirby, a 72-year-old handyman, has been sentenced for a second time in connection with the kidnapping and assault of a popular Stonington teacher in 2002.

Kirby was convicted in 2004 of kidnapping and sentenced to 21 years but the state Supreme Court overturned the conviction.

He will receive credit for time served and could be released from prison in 13 years, the Day of New London reports.

Buck managed to break free from the attack, but was found dead in her home two days later.

Her husband, Charles Buck, has been charged with her murder.
