Police are investigating after burglars slammed a car into a gun shop and stole guns.

Police are searching for several people who crashed into Woodbridge gun shop early Wednesday morning and stole several guns.

Police responded to the Woodbridge Firearms Trading Post on Selden Street just after 3 a.m. when an alarm went off and found an empty car inside the store.

As they investigated, they learned the car had been stolen from New Haven and now believe four to five people were involved in the burglary, stole less than five guns and got away in a dark colored sedan waiting in a nearby parking lot. the theives were wearing gloves and masks, police said.

The store owner said he keeps the guns well-secured and that there are several security cameras on-site. Part of the investigation will include checking the 16 surveillance cameras the store installed.

New Haven Police are assisting Woodbridge Police in the search for the driver and any passengers. A police K-9 is also being used in the search.
