Hartford Hit & Run

The family of a hit and run victim is speaking out hoping someone will come forward with information to solve the case.

It happened in Hartford back on May 8 at 10:45 at night.  Jerry McCarthy, and his wife Renee, were crossing New Britain Avenue near Julius Street.  A car raced out of a driveway hitting Renee and throwing her into the oncoming lane, according to family attorney John Haymond.  As McCarthy tried to help his wife and stop traffic, a second car tapped him and ran over his wife.  That driver stopped and has not been charged.  The first driver is still on the run.

Renee McCarthy is still at Hartford Hospital, and is now out of the ICU, according to her husband.  Her injuries include a broken neck, back, and pelvis, he said.

"I'm hoping that somebody has some conscience and morals that would come forward, has the courage because there's somebody out there that definitely knows who that person is," said McCarthy.

Investigators believe the car that hit McCarthy was a black foreign sporty model with chrome wheels.
