A 17-year-old girl was arrested after she brought a gun to Hartford High School on Friday, according to Hartford police.
The school was placed on code yellow lockdown and officers responded to the school just after noon.
"We’ve done this dozens of times through the last couple of years through school threats that we’ve had," Deputy Chief Brian J. Foley said. "Unfortunately, we’ve gotten pretty good at executing these types of situations."
Hartford police said someone saw the student with a firearm in the school and began texting friends. Eventually, an East Hartford student contacted police to inform them of the sighting.
"Security guards and police officers were able to approach the female in the high school. She did attempt to allude the officers. She was captured. She was found to have a loaded .45-caliber on her," Foley said.
Police said the gun contained one round of ammunition.
No students were been hurt.
