Hartford police seized two stolen firearms from a home on New Britain Avenue in the capital city during a home compliance check late morning on Tuesday.
Gilberto Mendez, 19, of 1 New Britain Ave., Hartford, is facing multiple weapons charges.
Connecticut probation officers and Hartford Police Department's Shooting Task Force found two guns at Mendez's 1 New Britain Ave. home at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
Detectives responded and determined the guns found were stolen. They also discovered 29 rounds of .40 caliber ammunition, 12 WIN .38 caliber Super Auto +P rounds of ammunition, a bullet proof vest and illegal prescription drugs at the house, police said.
Police charged Mendez with theft of a firearm, possession of a high capacity magazine and illegal possession of prescription drugs.
Hartford police held him in custody on a $250,000 bond.
