The Hartford Yard Goats announced their 2017 Opening Day roster. The team includes 13 pitchers and 12 position players.
Ten of the players on the club are returning from last year’s team. The Opening Day roster includes 13 pitchers and 12 position players.
Two of the players on the roster are considered top 10 prospects of the Colorado Rockies. Those players as listed by “Baseball America” are RHP Ryan Castellani and INF Ryan McMahon. The Rockies, the parent club of the Double-A Eastern League Yard Goats, sets the roster and oversees all player transactions during the course of the season.
Four of the players on the team, including Castellani and McMahon, are considered among the top 30 prospects in the entire MLB farm system.
The team is starting the season on the road with a seven game trip.
The Yard Goats are scheduled to play their home opener at Dunkin’ Donuts Park on Thursday, April 13.
