Hit-and-Run Driver Leaves Snowy Imprint Behind

Whoops. Of all the things to leave behind.

Police have a pretty good clue to follow in the case of a hit-and-run this morning:  The snowy imprint of a license plate!

The driver of a silver Honda Civic left their license plate number, backward of course, in the snowy rear bumper of the Saturn it hit.  That should make it a bit easier for cops to track it down.

The wreck happened at 7:40 a.m. in Wednesday's snow.

A 51-year-old woman merged her Saturn onto Route 8 in Waterbury when she was hit by the Civic.  After the Civic spun around, it took off.

Katherine Brown of Monroe owns the car, said police, but it is unclear who was behind the wheel.

Cops will often find physical evidence of a crash, sometimes even a license plate itself.  But a snowy imprint?

"It happens all the time," says a Connecticut State Trooper.
