Holiday Tree Arrives in New Haven

New Haven is getting its holiday tree today.

Work crews are in Prospect this morning to cut down the 65-foot Norway spruce that will be decorated with thousands of lights and stand on the New Haven Green for the holiday season.

The Miller family is donating the tree this year.

New Haven Parks Department workers will transport the tree into the city.

“We cut the tree at the base, the crane lifts it, puts it on a flatbed, we strap it down, drive it all the way to the New Haven Green from Prospect,” said Adam Wambolt, a New Haven tree trimmer last week while the tree was being prepared.

The tree lighting is set for Thursday, Nov. 29. NBC Connecticut is the proud television sponsor of the event.

You can watch the lighting that night on NBC Connecticut beginning at 7 p.m.
