Windsor Man in His 20s Dies After Shooting, Crash in Hartford: PD

A man in his 20s from Windsor has died after he was found with a gunshot wound following a crash in Hartford on Sunday morning.

Police were called to a crash on Bellevue Street around 8:45 a.m. Officers said the crash appeared serious and there was a lot of damage to property including fences and trees.

The driver of the vehicle was found unconscious and was extricated by firefighters. Once firefighters removed the man from the vehicle, police said they noticed he had a gunshot wound.

He was transported to St. Francis Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Authorities have identified the man as 20-year-old Tyrik Walcott, of Windsor.

Investigators said Walcott was the only one in the vehicle and the gunshot wound does not appear to be self inflicted. At this time, police said they believe this was an isolated incident.

There are cameras in the area and authorities said they plan to review them and will also do a canvass of the neighborhood. The neighborhood is described by police as mostly residential.

Sunday's homicide marks the second homicide in Hartford in 2022.
