Hotel Worker Busted After Breaking in Guest Room

A woman staying at the Homewood Suites by Hilton in Glastonbury awoke just after midnight Thursday to find a hotel employee in her room hiding underneath her bed.

She called hotel security.  They called police.

Jose Souza-Ferreyra, 21, is now charged with attempted sexual assault and burglary.  He was arraigned at Manchester Superior Court and is held on a $500,000 bond.

The victim was sleeping in room 409 and woke up after hearing a noise, according to court documents.  She then noticed Souza-Ferreyra underneath the foot of her bed hiding under the bedspread.

"She was surprised by the fact that he was in her hotel room, didn't know why he was there, immediately called hotel management," said Sgt. Joel White, from the Glastonbury Police Department.

The woman immediately recognized Souza-Ferreyra as a hotel employee who had been in her room uninvited just hours earlier.  At that time, Souza-Ferreyra told police he knocked on her door and entered to drop off dry cleaning when no one answered.  He found her lying in her bed.  She told him to leave the clothes in the closet, according to court documents.

Souza-Ferreyra left the room and told police he returned just after midnight once his shift ended because he liked the way she talked to him.   He also told police he wanted to have sex with the woman, according to court documents.

Police found four hotel key cards at the suspect's home, according to court documents.  At this point, police do not believe he's tried similar crimes before.
