It's been nearly 20 years since the Hubble Space telescope began circling the earth -- bringing back amazing images and helping us understand the universe.
Now you can go on an incredible ride through space as "Hubble" the IMAX movie blasts into The Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk. The IMAX movie opens on Friday with showings at 11 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
The film, narrated by actor, Leonardo DiCaprio, was filmed by NASA astronauts aboard the space shuttle Atlantis in May 2009.
Audiences will almost feel the weightlessness of space as well as the difficulty of space-walking as they watch astronauts work on the telescope. The movie also promises to take audiences on a celestial tour with images from the Orion nebula to the far reaches of the universe.
The Hubble Space Telescope has been called the most important scientific instrument since Galileo's original telescope.
The telescope has a unique connection to Connecticut -- its primary mirror and optical system were built in Danbury. The Perkin-Elmer Corp. designed the technology -- that company is now known as Goodrich Corp. ISR Systems.
The Hubble Space Telescope is still orbiting earth -- 370 miles up -- and is expected to stay there and continue to send back images until 2014 when the next telescope, the James Webb Space Telescope, launches.

"Hubble" is G-rated and suitable for all ages. The film is 43 minutes long.
