I-84 East Asylum Street Exit to Reopen by Monday Morning Commute

Construction of the CTfastrak ramp is on schedule.

The Asylum Street exit closure on Interstate 84 East has caused traffic delays this weekend during CTfastrak construction, but the ramp is on schedule to reopen by 5 a.m. at latest for the Monday morning commute.

Exit 48A, which gives motorists access to Asylum Street and Hartford's Union Station, has been closed since Friday due to construction of a ramp for the state's upcoming express busway between the capital city and New Britain.

The closure wasn't music to the ears of folks coming to the Greater Hartford Festival of Jazz in Bushnell Park this weekend.

"We didn't know about it," Rick Casciano, the jazz festival's vice president, said. "The city kind of didn't let us know what was going to be open and closed, so it kind of falls on us."

But the exit will reopen Monday at latest if not earlier.
