Three people were taken to the hospital after a six-vehicle crash that closed Interstate 95 South in East Lyme for around four hours on Monday night.
Police said six vehicles were slowed because of traffic in the area of exit 73 when the seventh vehicle crashed into the back of the last car around 8:40 p.m., causing a chain reaction crash.
Four vehicles were towed from the scene.
The highway was closed at exit 74 and cars were being detoured off I-95 and back on at exit 71 until around 12:40 a.m.
