Two people have died and another person is in serious condition after a wrong-way crash involving four vehicles on Interstate 95 in Stonington on Saturday night.
State Police said they were notified of a wrong-way driver on I-95 south near exit 90 around 6:15 p.m.
According to state police, a vehicle driven by 32-year-old Larry Stallings Jr., of Bristol, was traveling northbound on I-95 south when he hit a vehicle being driven by 55-year-old Melvin Wells, of Hamden, head-on.
Wells went into the right lane and hit a third vehicle before both vehicles ended up on the right side of the road, police said. Stallings hit a fourth vehicle before both landed near the left side of the highway.
Both Stallings and Wells died from injuries sustained in the crash, according to state police. A passenger in Stallings's vehicle was transported to the hospital to be treated for serious injuries.
No drivers nor passengers in any of the other vehicles were injured.
Part of the highway was shut down while police investigated the crash, but it has since reopened.
