Illegal Prescription Drugs In School

Two Litchfield High students are under arrest, charged with illegally possessing a prescription drug. A warrant is out for a third student.

On Wednesday state police were called to the high school after someone said two students were possibly under the influence of an unknown substance.

The Republican-American is reporting that the kids were in possession of the drug Clonazepam. Clonazepam is an anticonvulsant and muscle relaxant that creates a sense of euphoria.  The students were taken to the hospital to be checked out.

Now they are facing charges including possession of a prescription drug and sale of narcotics or certain hallucinogens.

The 16-year-old is due back in court on April 13 and the 15-year-old has an April 9 court date.

The arrest warrant being sought for the third student, a 16-year-old, will also charge the student with possession of a prescription drug.
