Trump-Kim Summit Comes to Abrupt End

Talks between President Donald Trump and North Korea's Kim Jong Un collapsed Thursday after the two sides failed to bridge a standoff over U.S. sanctions on the reclusive nation, a dispiriting end to high-stakes meetings meant to disarm a global threat. Trump blamed the breakdown on North Korea's insistence that all the punishing sanctions the U.S. has imposed on Pyongyang be lifted without the North committing to eliminate its nuclear arsenal. Two more sentences have been handed down in a patient abuse case at Connecticut's maximum security mental hospital.

Wild Garbage Truck Crash Caught on Camera

A crash involving a garbage truck was caught by surveillance cameras in Fairfield on Thursday.  Police said the truck was driving too fast on Greenfield Street and the driver lost control, flipping the truck on its side and slamming into rocks in front of a daycare.  The driver was arrested.  See the video here.

Fine Tuning Police Radio Systems

Several Connecticut cities and towns are considering using a state police radio communications network for their officers rather than upgrading their own systems. The Connecticut State Police just spent $30 million upgrading its network and it has so much bandwidth, that it can provide space to other departments to broadcast on the network for free. Municipalities that join the network could save millions of dollars. See more on the story here.

Woman in MAGA Fracas Could Be Deported

A Massachusetts woman accused of assaulting a man wearing a Make America Great Again hat at a Cape Cod restaurant is in custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and is due to be deported. ICE officials say the woman is a citizen of Brazil and is in the U.S. illegally. See more on the charges she is facing here.

Doctor Stops Seeing Unvaccinated Kids

A South Carolina pediatrician has told parents he will no longer see unvaccinated children at his office. The doctor said he is concerned that the patients could put immunocompromised kids in his waiting room at risk. See what parents of unvaccinated children said here.
