A man tried to purchase a gun while intoxicated and accidentally shot himself in the hand, Hartford police said.
On Jan 1., Martin Maldonado, 27, of Hartford, told police he attempted to buy a firearm on Park Street. police said. At around 1 a.m., Maldonado shot himself by accident.
Maldonado was dropped off at the emergency room and police said they responded a little after 10 a.m.
Possession of a pistol without a permit, criminal possession of a firearm and unlawful discharge are the charges Maldonado--who is a convicted felon--face.
